Why do I travel and write about it?

I have always loved travelling, even when I was a kid. Though of course, I might not remember all the details vividly, photos taken when I was 2-3-year-old onwards are proof that I indeed travelled much as a child along with my family. However, life had been quite busy especially when I started working at the age of 19. I was still able to travel, but they’ve been too sporadic. Also, at that age, I wasn’t really mature enough to appreciate the beauty of the places that I visited. From time to time, I’d get the chance to go out of town with my colleagues but that’s about it. At the most, I get to travel only around 3 – 4 times a year. Not until I saw a video!

It is a video that shows the Philippines at its finest. I would even dare say that the video is far better than any marketing videos our own Department of Tourism has done in the past years. The video Philippines Side is created by Jérémie Tridard, a foreigner who has happened to explore our beautiful country and shared it through such wonderful video. You may watch the video below:

If this video did not make you feel that you want to pack-up your stuff and book a plane ticket, or at the very least, made you get a pen paper to write down the places you want to visit, then I don’t know what will.

The moment I saw this video, I realised how much I have been missing. I am a Filipino, born and is living in this archipelago for almost 26 years now, and yet, I haven’t even explored even just a quarter of what this country has got to offer. It’s a shame that a banyaga(foreigner) from halfway across the globe, was able to travel our country and explore the unexplored. Good thing, there’s still time (and a bit of money) to spend and see how glorious the Philippines is.

If this video did not make you feel that you want to pack-up your stuff and book a plane ticket, or at the very least, made you get a pen paper to write down the places you want to visit, then I don’t know what will.

Having thought of exploring this country (and hopefully the globe), I came up with a travel bucket list.  Since August of this year, I’ve been to six destinations already and still counting. Yeah, they aren’t much yet but considering that I am a full-time employee with a limited budget to spare, I already consider it quite an achievement. It really feels good to be able to travel, it is therapeutic and I couldn’t wait to visit my next destination. Also, just like the Philippines Side video which inspired me a lot, I endeavour to compile videos of my own adventure together with my friends and loved ones. I hope you enjoy one below:

Another perk of travelling, aside from the fact that you get to let off some steam and relax, is the fact that I have the opportunity to be [self-proclaimed] an advocate of the Philippine Tourism. I feel joy when some of my friends tell me that they want to join me and my partner for our next adventure. That alone, and the thought that I am able to invite more and more people to travel and explore the Philippines is already a plus and I couldn’t be happier.

Moving forward, I will do my best to share my experiences in this blog, alongside with great photos and videos and I really do hope that you can explore the same destinations and experience it yourself in the future. Travelling is not always about the good experiences though. Truth be told, especially if you’re travelling on a tight budget like me, there are some experiences that might disappoint or even ruin everyone’s travel vibe. I will share them, and it will always be at the bottom part of my blog post that you can use as reference on what to do or what not to do when you encounter the same situations. Hopefully, it can help you, one way or the other, in the future too.
